Yes. Illinois has one of the most comprehensive surrogacy laws in the United States. The Illinois Gestational Surrogacy Act provides a well-established legal framework that protects both surrogates and intended parents.

Do intended parents have to go to court?+–

In many cases, no. When all requirements of the Illinois Gestational Surrogacy Act are completed before delivery, intended parents can establish legal parentage through an administrative process without going to court. If those requirements are not met, a post-birth court order may be necessary.

How much do surrogates get paid in Illinois?+–

What are the requirements to become a surrogate?+–

Most surrogate journeys take approximately 12 to 18 months from application to delivery.

Do I need to live near an IVF clinic?+–

No. Most monitoring appointments are completed locally, and travel is typically only required for your IVF clinic screening and embryo transfer.
